Welcome Back Grant County Mulch Racing: After nearly a three-month hiatus, Grant County Mulch Racing returns to the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East tour for Friday’s United Site Services 70 with rookie driver Codie Rohrbaugh aboard.

Last Time Out: In their second NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race of the season, Rohrbaugh attacked Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway in April in search of his first career NASCAR top-10 finish. After qualifying a career-best ninth, Rohrbaugh was spun late in the race which resulted in a disappointing 22nd place finish.

He’s Back: In one of his three NASCAR K&N Pro Series East races last season, Rohrbaugh started 23rd and finished 23rd in his New Hampshire Motor Speedway debut driving the No. 05 Grant County Mulch Toyota Camry. A year later, Rohrbaugh returns to the “Magic Mile” hoping to make a little magic of his own.

You Went Where?!: While Rohrbaugh is excited to get back behind the wheel of a race car this weekend, the Petersburg, West Virginia native is still reflecting on his recent vacation in South Africa. With members of his family, For two weeks, Rohrbaugh toured the country, hunted and enjoyed some much needed rest and relaxation.

Locked In: Despite no laps at the 1.058-mile track of New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Grant County Mulch Racing (GCMR) won’t have to worry about making the field for the United Site Services 70. With 30 cars registered for the race, Rohrbaugh is guaranteed to start the race. With that security, the team will focus on their race day setup in their No. 7 Grant County Mulch Chevrolet SS.

Meet Codie: Rohrbaugh will meet and greet race fans during the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East autograph session on Friday, July 17 from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

New Hampshire Motor Speedway Fast Fact: Friday’s race is the 69th race for the series at the 1.058-mile slightly banked oval, dating back to Sept. 1990. This is the second straight year the series has raced on the summer stop for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, after running on the September weekend in 2012 and 2013. It’s the largest track on the K&N East schedule.

Chassis Intel: Mark Huff, crew chief Grant County Mulch Racing has elected to bring chassis number 001 to the 1.058-mile paved oval this weekend. This Chevrolet SS is appearing in its third race of the season. This race chassis last competed in the K&N Pro Series East race at Bristol Motor Speedway in April. It was also raced in the season-opener at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway in February.

Grant County Mulch Racing, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Pre-Race Quotes: Codie Rohrbaugh, driver of the No. 7 Grant County Mulch Chevrolet SS:

On Bristol Motor Speedway: “Man, we had such a great car and really don’t have anything to show for it. Our No. 7 Grant County Mulch Chevrolet was fast in qualifying and we were able to hold our own during the race, but as the handling faded, I found myself in horrendous battles, fighting for every spot on the track. We were hoping to escape there with a top-15 finish, but we’re back and ready to try again.”

On New Hampshire Motor Speedway: “Last year didn’t go as well as we would have wanted to at New Hampshire. The good thing is for the second time in my career, I’m back a place where I have more experience and we’ve made great strides in our program since.

“Track position is everything at New Hampshire, so we just need to make sure we get a good balance on our No. 7 Grant County Mulch Chevrolet SS during practice, qualify strong and race hard. It’s a very short race, so there’s no time to be a slouch. We must go and go hard.”

On His Recent Vacation To Africa: “I had a blast. It’s always good to enjoy time with family and meet new people. The culture is so different over there, but I can’t begin to explain the memories we made. I didn’t want to leave, but I’m glad to back behind the wheel of a race car.”
