Welcome To The NASCAR Nationwide Series: Last week, Sheltra Motorsports in alliance with Jay Robinson Racing (JRR) announced that 22-year old Patrick Sheltra will advance from the ARCA RE/MAX Series and compete in the final two NASCAR Nationwide Series events of the season at Phoenix International Raceway and Homestead-Miami Speedway behind the wheel of the No. 4 Dodge Charger.

Jump Start On 2009: Sheltra Motorsports, based in Whitesville , Kentucky is getting their feet wet in NASCAR Nationwide Series competition in preparation for a limited schedule next year which is set to include seven events. The team will make another run for the ARCA RE/MAX Series championship in 2009 with hopes of moving their asphalt program to the NASCAR Nationwide Series full-time in 2010.

A Different Series; Same Horns: With their success in the ARCA RE/MAX Series in 2008 running a Dodge Charger, Sheltra Motorsports in alliance with Jay Robinson Racing will run a Dodge Charger in the final two events of the season. The team recently acquired equipment from Chip Ganassi Racing and will have a motor powered by Chip Ganassi Racing at Phoenix and Homestead . Sheltra Motorsports will run a Dodge Charger in a majority of the ARCA RE/MAX Series races in 2009.

Prior NASCAR Experience: Sheltra, The Indiantown, Florida native does have prior experience in the NASCAR ranks as he made his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut last October at Atlanta Motor Speedway behind the wheel of the No. 12 Chevrolet Silverado. Sheltra will make his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut this weekend.

Reuniting Two Teammates: Phoenix International Raceway will serve as an official reunion between Patrick Sheltra and Jay Robinson Racing teammate Kenny Wallace. Wallace drove for Sheltra Motorsports in the dirt late model series where he took Sheltra’s famed No. 23 Chevrolet to victory lane in the 2005 Prelude To The Dream.

Marketing Partners Secured: Earlier this week, Sheltra Motorsports in alliance Jay Robinson Racing announced that they had secured marketing partners for the remainder of the season. Case Construction Equipment, Briggs Construction Equipment and Quality Turf of Okeechobee, Inc. will adorn the team’s Charger. Case and Briggs Construction Equipment will enjoy their first taste of Motorsports while Quality Turf of Okeechobee, Inc. reunites with Sheltra after taking the primary marketing partner role last month at Talladega Superspeedway in the ARCA RE/MAX Series where Sheltra, the Indiantown, Florida native led laps and finished a restrictor plate-best fifth.

How Did You Do In ‘08? Last month, Sheltra completed his second full-time season in ARCA RE/MAX Series competition. Driving the familiar No. 60, Sheltra blasted his way to four top-five finishes including two-runner up finishes at Toledo Speedway and the mile dirt of the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds. Additional highlights include a fifth place run at Talladega Superspeedway and a fourth place effort in the season finale at Toledo Speedway last month. Additionally, Sheltra posted nine top-10’s overall in the 21-race schedule and finished sixth in the final Championship points.

For The Record: With 21 races complete and closed in the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series season, Sheltra Motorsports fielded a car for Patrick Sheltra that ran in the top-10 (at some point of each event) for all 21 events this season. The team amassed four top-fives with a runner-up at Toledo Speedway and the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds a fourth in the season finale at Toledo Speedway and a fifth place effort at Talladega Superspeedway while holding five additional top-10 finishes. The team’s season best qualifying effort came at Kansas Speedway where Sheltra awarded himself with a career best run of eighth. Sheltra recorded his career best short track qualifying run of eighth at Berlin Raceway in July. The team led three races at Kansas Speedway, Cayuga Motor Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway for a total of 17 laps.

A Quick Glance; Patrick Sheltra ARCA Career: Sheltra has 46 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with a career best finish of second at Toledo Speedway (May 2008) and the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds (September 2008) with three additional top-five finishes (fifth) at Talladega Superspeedway (October 2008), (fourth) at Toledo Speedway (October 2008), (third) at Illinois State Fairgrounds (August 2007) and (fourth) at Berlin Raceway (July 2007) while holding additional top-10s at Nashville Superspeedway (August 2008), Michigan International Speedway (June 2008), Kentucky Speedway (May 2008), Kansas Speedway (April 2008), Iowa Speedway (April 2008), Kentucky Speedway (June 2007), DuQuoin State Fairgrounds (September 2007) and Toledo Speedway (October 2007). An eighth place qualifying effort at Kansas Speedway (April 2008) is Sheltra’s best time trials efforts to date. He has controlled the ARCA field three times for 17 laps.

On Looking Ahead To Homestead : “It’s going to be a big race for us. It’s a hometown race for me and my family so we want to go out there and run good. A solid top-20 finish would be a great way to close out our 2008 racing season.”

The Hefty Odor Block 200 (200 miles/200 laps) is the 34th of 35 events on the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule. The desert trip to PIR is a two-day show. Practice begins Friday, November 7 with a two hour and twenty minute practice session planned from 9:30 a.m.-11:50 a.m. A final practice has been etched in from 1:35 p.m. to 2:20 p.m. Keystone pole qualifying is slated to begin Saturday, November 8th at 10:05 a.m. The field will take the green flag shortly after 2:30 p.m. (4:30 p.m. Eastern). The race will air live on ESPN2 beginning at 2:00 p.m. Additional race coverage will be available through the Motor Racing Network (Radio) and Sirius satellite radio channel 128 also launching at 2:00 p.m. All times are local.
