SPARTA, Kentucky (May 5, 2009) - - The last time James Buescher was behind the wheel of a Win-Tron Racing entry he climbed out in victory lane for the biggest win of his young career in the ARCA 200 at Daytona in February. Since then, Buescher has been focused on his rookie season in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driving for Circle Bar Racing. But, with an off-weekend on tap for the trucks, Buescher is returning to the ARCA RE/MAX Series for Saturday night’s Drive Smart! Buckle-Up Kentucky 150 at Kentucky Speedway.

It’s been a positive season thus far for the Lakeville, Minnesota’s Win-Tron Racing team. After winning the biggest event of their career at Daytona, the team hasn’t finished worse than 11th in the first four races of the year. The effort has propelled the team to the top of the ARCA RE/MAX Series owner standings.

In the last race at Talladega, Kelly Bires made a rare ARCA RE/MAX Series appearance in the same piece that Buescher soared to victory at Daytona. After qualifying a strong third, Bires led an impressive 35 laps before finishing ninth. With the finish, Win-Tron Racing has accelerated to two top-five finishes and three top-10 runs in four starts.

Returning to a track that has been modest for the Win-Tron Racing team, the team is hoping to visit a familiar place, victory lane Saturday night.

“I’m really proud of the team this year,” said Nate Thiesse, co-owner and team manger of Win-Tron Racing. “The guys are building strong and fast cars which is reflecting in our performances, we hope to continue that this weekend.”

Ironically, Buescher a two-time winner in the ARCA RE/MAX Series has never competed in an event at Kentucky Speedway but the 19-year old has seat time in private and open test sessions at the 1.5-mile speedway which the team feels will be beneficial in Saturday’s run.

“We finished in the top-10 in this same event last year,” recalled Thiesse. “We have been overall satisfied with our mile-and-a-half program and with James at the helm, we know we can keep our strong streak alive.”

The team tackled the Northern Kentucky track last week for an open test on Wednesday, April 29. Overall, the team was ninth fastest but the team is confident there coming back with a better package.

“We’ll be fine for the race,” noted Thiesse. “We utilized the test to get James comfortable to the track and he kept improving all day long. The test is called a test for a reason and we used it to our advantage.”

Since 2007, Buescher has 15 career ARCA RE/MAX Series starts with two victories at USA International Speedway (March 2007) and Daytona International Speedway (February 2009). He has five top-five finishes and nine top-10 efforts to his credit. Buescher holds one pole position at Talladega Superspeedway in October 2008. He had led 209 laps in seven RE/MAX Series events.

Entering Kentucky, Win-Tron Racing holds the top-spot in the ARCA RE/MAX Series owner’s standings after four races. Car owner Kevin Cywinski holds a 10-point lead over second place car owner Jessica Sharp (No. 6). The team advanced two spots from their last outing at Talladega Superspeedway after Kelly Bires finished ninth.

The Drive Smart! Buckle-Up Kentucky 150 (100 laps / 150 miles) is the fifth of 22 events on the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The 18th ever ARCA race at Kentucky Speedway is a one-day show. Practice begins Saturday, May 9 with a two hour practice session planned from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is set for later in the day slated to begin at 4:00 p.m. The event will take the green flag that evening shortly after 8:00 p.m. The event will not be televised but the race will be broadcasted live through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local.
