“Teams To Try Again Friday”

KANSAS CITY, Kansas (April 3, 2008) - - A steady stream of rain washed away an open ARCA RE/MAX Series test session at Kansas Speedway on Thursday. ARCA and track officials have elected to reschedule the second open test of the season for Friday, April 4.

Teams arrived Thursday hoping to get a jump-start on track activity in preparation for the fourth race on the 2008 agenda, the Kansas Lottery $150 Grand etched in for Friday, April 25. After a solid mist early, the precipitation ceased before arriving back shortly after 9:30am local time. Mother Nature never gave way forcing the session to be called shortly after 1:00pm local time.

The delay of the test also forces Sheltra Motorsports to wait another day before officially tackling the ARCA scene with a Dodge Charger. The Whitesville, Kentucky based team announced on Thursday the team’s intent to run a Dodge Charger in a minimum of 10 events this year.

Kansas Speedway marks the first test where the team will be hoisting a Dodge Charger. The Kansas City , Kansas speed plant will also host the first official race where the Sheltra Motorsports team will carry the new nameplate later this month. In addition to a manufacturer change, Sheltra Motorsports will also debut their camouflage paint scheme; a vast difference from the team’s normal neon green and yellow colors.

“We’re disappointed we didn’t get any track time on Thursday, but we can’t do anything about it,” said driver Patrick Sheltra. “We’ll relax tonight and be ready to get after it on Friday.”

Commenting about unveiling the Dodge program this week, Sheltra sounded, “I’m very excited about running a Dodge Charger this year in ARCA competition. The Dodges have been very competitive in the ARCA RE/MAX Series over the past few years; which led us in their direction. We are convinced that their track record will continue to stand this year.”

A handful of other ARCA RE/MAX Series teams are expected to join Sheltra Motorsports for the anticipated eight-hour session tomorrow.
