Salem Speedway Recap: For the third time in four races, Patrick Sheltra finished 11th at Salem Speedway. Driving the J&S Bulk Transport Co., Inc. Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS, Sheltra recovered from an innocent practice spin to post the 20th fastest effort in qualifying. Charging towards the front, Sheltra soared into the top-three before being collected in the “big one.” Sheltra rebounded and took advantage of the Aaron’s Luck Dog to find his Sheltra Motorsports machine 11th in the final rundown, the last car on the lead lap.

This weekend the highly diverse racing sanction will compete at the newly constructed New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) at the Thunderbolt Raceway in Millville , New Jersey . Back To Familiar Colors: The 19th ARCA RE/MAX Series event of the season brings Sheltra Motorsports sporting their familiar neon green No. 60 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS. Locked and loaded with their familiar marketing partners, this weekend’s event will serve as the last weekend where the team won’t host a new primary marketing partner.

Testing, Testing, 1.2.3.: Earlier this week, Sheltra Motorsports hosted and participated in a private test session at New Jersey Motorsports Park . The team spent the day dialing in their No. 60 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS while Patrick Sheltra familiarized himself with the 14-turn facility. The team was very pleased with their lap times on Tuesday and feel the extra track time will put them in contention in Sunday’s Loud Energy Drink 150.

Talking With The Pros: With his very first road course start on the horizon this weekend, Sheltra isn’t afraid to ask for advice. During Tuesday’s test session, Sheltra consulted with road course ace and TRG Motorsports driver Andy Lally while also communicating with Infineon Raceway driving instructor David Smith. Lally, currently licensed to compete in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series has offered his support and guidance to the Sheltra Motorsports team for this weekend’s event.

Cruising In The Big Apple: With a down day from track activities, members of the Sheltra Motorsports team piled into the rental van and headed to New York City for a day of sightseeing and relaxation on Thursday. The trip was topped off with a surprise stop to the Late Night Show with David Letterman where the team was supplied tickets to the award winning show. Letterman is a car owner in the IndyCar Series with driver Ryan Hunter-Reay.

Sheltra Motorsports, New Jersey Motorsports Park Pre-Race Quotes: Patrick Sheltra, driver of the No. 60 Ferguson Pipe-FloraGanics Chevrolet:

On Salem : “Typical Salem . We had a minor hiccup in practice and bounced back with a decent qualifying effort. In the race we went to the front. We had to play some strategy and like much of the field got tangled in the big one. The guys did a great job repairing the car and we finished 11th. Not a top-10, but we’ll take it.”

On New Jersey Motorsports Park : “Buckle-Up. It’s going to be a bumpy and fun ride. This road course deal is very new to me but I think I’m going to enjoy it. We have a real good car and plenty of people willing to help us out. I just hope that when the checkered flag falls on Sunday, we’re in good shape.”

On The Test: “The test went real good. We only went off the course once, so I gave myself a big pat on the back. The guys did a great job adjusting the car and we had some road racing aces lock us in further with the setup. There’s a number of teams that will have the upper hand when practice rolls out on Friday. I think having the extra track time will be very beneficial for us this weekend.”

On The Points: “There are just three races left and we’re 20 points from sixth. Last year we finished seventh, so I’m gunning to beat that by one this year. This point’s battle is extremely tight. There is no room from error from sixth to 10th. Whoever plays it the smartest this weekend will walk away sixth in points and believe me, we’re hoping it’s us.”

Sheltra Motorsports, New Jersey Motorsports Park Pre-Race Quotes: Grace Sheltra, owner of the No. 60 Ferguson Pipe-FloraGanics Chevrolet:

On Salem : “We want to thank J&S Bulk Transport, Co., Inc. for their support of our team at Salem Speedway. We had a good car but we swept into the carnage. We finished 11th which is better than finishing 20th but we had a good enough car to finish in the top-five. We’ll look for short track redemption at Toledo Speedway.”

On New Jersey : “The team is heading into the race optimistic but we all think we can walk away with a good run. Patrick did the Skip Barber Racing school earlier this summer and felt real comfortable. Patience will be the winning piece to the puzzle this weekend.”
