“Rising Phenom “On Fire” With Second Consecutive Victory”

JUSTIN, Texas (August 12, 2011) - - When you’re hot. You’re hot. And with air temperatures extending into the triple digits, it wasn’t the boiling conditions that had everyone talking about in Texas. Michael Dabney Jr. has been “hot” since returning to the Lone Star state last week. Notching his first victory of the season in last Thursday Night’s Summer Stampede, the Crandall, Texas native returned to Texas Motor Speedway hungry to do it again and easily was dubbed a pre-race favorite heading into the night of competition.

Dabney Jr. in his No. 5 Michael Dabney Jr. Motorsports (MDM) entry was quick right off the bat, so it was no surprise to see the 22-year old score the pole for the heat race. A flawless performance during the heat race allowed Dabney Jr. to cross the start-finish line first, ultimately putting him atop of the field for the feature.

Before the start of the main attraction though, the field would be inverted, sliding Dabney Jr. back to the fifth position. In the race, the rising phenom methodically and boldly moved his way through the field. Slicing and dicing his way to the front – Dabney Jr. quickly took the lead and cruised to his second consecutive win in round eight of Thursday Night’s Summer Stampede.

The jubilant driver climbed from his car and celebrated the victory with his Michael Dabney Jr. Motorsports team. “Wow, this is just awesome,” Dabney Jr. said. “First, I have to thank my dad, the Lovejoy’s, as well as Hank Scott and his staff for providing the steam under the hood.”

He added, “You have no idea how cool it is to come back home and win, especially in front of those who have been there for you since day one. There are so many people that have helped me throughout the years and these past two victories have allowed me the chance to reflect on that and appreciate their support even more.”

Dabney Jr. who now resides in Mooresville, North Carolina returned to Texas last week after completing a commendable seven-week stretch in the Summer Shootout Series. Little hesitation from the driver showed that staying the seat paid off.

“By racing every week, it keeps you focused,” he explained. “The Summer Shootout Series was a blast and I learned a lot. There’s no doubt that by running the Summer Shootout Series, my concentration level remained at all-time high. I also wanted to prove that with the right luck that I could still win. We turned some heads back in Concord (N.C.); I think we’ve done the same here.”

From Texas Motor Speedway, the MDM team heads to Red River Speedway located in North Wichita, Texas Friday night where he looks to extend his winning streak in a triple header weekend at the 1/4-mile paved oval.

Once his racing endeavors are complete in the Lone Star state, he will return to North Carolina and re-focus his racing efforts for the remainder of the 2011 season and brace for 2012.

“I know we have a lot of irons in the fire and (hopefully) something is bound to pan out,” he humbly stated. I’ve been very fortune enough to work with some great people this year who truly want the best for me and my racing career. At this point, I can’t ask for much more than that.”
