RANDLEMAN, North Carolina (March 1, 2012) - - It’s been a relatively quiet off-season for Ryan Wilson and his Ryan Wilson Motorsports (RWM) team. But, he’ll be the first to tell you he likes it that way. While the team has kept their 2012 plans on the back burner until now, the team heads to Southern National (N.C.) Motorsports Park (SNMP) this weekend looking to vie for a win and most importantly this year, a state championship.

Description: WilsonDriving the No. 12 Southern Pharmacy Services / Randolph Bank Toyota Camry this weekend, the Randleman, North Carolina native is eager to put the pedal to the floor and kick off his NASCAR Whelen All-American Series (NWAAS) season in style.

While, RWM has never competed at Southern National, the team led by crew chief Kirk Bryant recently conducted a private test at the historic short track with satisfying results. Returning to the track this weekend, the team knows that the competition is expected to be stout; but feels that there’re more than ready for the challenges they may face.

“We’re actually pretty excited about this weekend,” said Wilson, the 2010 fall winner of Richard Petty Driver Search II. “I can’t even begin to talk about the dedication, enthusiasm and focus of our race team heading into a new season. We spent the winter working on our cars – making sure we can go to the track on a weekly basis and be a factor. We’re not going to run at just one track this year; we’re going to a bunch of them. The overall factor is to be in contention for a state championship in North Carolina, but we’re gunning for dominance and presence this year.”

The team’s hard work during the off-season has also paid dividends in the sponsorship department as the team is welcoming back Southern Pharmacy Services and Randolph Bank as the primary backers of the team’s No. 12 Toyota Camry this season.

“We’re grateful to have Southern Pharmacy Services and Randolph Bank back aboard this year, but we still have plenty of space on the car,” Wilson noted. “We’re hoping with a little luck on the track, we’ll be able to spark some attention off the track that will enhance the overall appearance and long-term stability of our race team.”

The 20-year old added, “We have a game-plan for 2012 and we’re sticking by it. We were a little disappointed in some of our performances last year because we know we were capable of much more. But, we’ve learned from our flaws and I think as the season progresses along; everyone will see just how much our hard work has paid off.”

As far as this weekend is concerned, we’re ready. A good finish will be the motivation and momentum we need to carry us through the month of March with races at Southern National and Caraway (Speedway). It’s a new year which means we’re at a clean slate and we hope to keep our No. 12 Southern Pharmacy Services / Randolph Bank Toyota Camry up front and in the hunt when the white flag waives.”

Action begins at Southern National (N.C.) Motorsports Park on Saturday, March 3. Practice begins at 10:00 a.m. sharp with qualifying set for 12:45 p.m. and racing by 2:00 p.m. that afternoon. In case of inclement weather, the track has etched the following day, Sunday, March 4 as a rain date.

While Wilson will be racing on Saturday afternoon, the team’s No. 12 Southern Pharmacy Services / Randolph Bank Toyota Camry show car will be on display at Oak Hollow Mall in High Point, North Carolina to support Caraway Speedway’s upcoming season. RWM encourages everyone to come by and bring a non-perishable food item to get a free Ryan Wilson Motorsports tee-shirt and hero card!
