RANDLEMAN, North Carolina (September 28, 2012) - - The Mid-Atlantic Shootout hoisted this weekend at Caraway (N.C.) Speedway is sure to bring plenty of competition, plenty of drive and plenty of pressure to capture the checkered flag in the last race of the season at the Sophia, North Carolina-based racetrack.

For Ryan Wilson and his Ryan Wilson Motorsports (RWM) team, they are very familiar with the layout and foundation that Saturday night’s race will bring. Still, the Thomasville-based team led by veteran Kirk Bryant are aiming towards their third win of the season at their home track in the No. 12 Southern Pharmacy Services / Randolph Bank Toyota Camry.

You’ll have to excuse Wilson, the 20-year old local standout if his concentration level is at an all-time high. The 2010 fall winner of Richard Petty Driver Search II has set the bar high for his closing races of the year.

“It’s hard to believe that there is not a lot of racing left in 2012,” said Wilson. “It’s important for us to go into the off-season on a high note and it definitely won’t hurt if we add a couple more wins before the year’s out. Statistically speaking, it’s been a positive year for us, but as a team and driver you always want more, especially for our sponsors. Our goal this weekend is simple, race our No. 12 Southern Pharmacy Services / Randolph Bank Toyota Camry back into victory lane.”

The team’s third triumph of the year slipped away on September 15 where Wilson, in the second 50-lap feature, started fourth and muscled his way into the lead before fading to second in the late stages. It was still a relatively positive night for the team on the heels of a third place run earlier in the evening.

“I’m awfully proud of my team,” sounded Wilson. “The guys are some of the hardest working in the garage. We race to win and we’ve done that this year. We’re always looking at our options to see what we can do to make ourselves better. I’m happy of what we’ve accomplished this year and look forward to what the rest of the season holds.”

While he’s been quiet to talk about it at times, the College student isn’t shy to acknowledge the support of his family and friends who make up a healthy cheering section for the No. 12 Southern Pharmacy Services / Randolph Bank Toyota Camry when competing at Caraway.

“You can’t do this without support,” added Wilson, referring to his fan base. “My parents are there right by my side as well as my grandparents, other family members and some of my closest friends. Plus, it’s a pretty neat feeling to have such a welcomed reception from the fans in the grandstands. That’s one of the blessings of being able to do what I do. Not only do I want to win for our sponsors but for them (fans, family and friends) too.”

Following this weekend’s festivities, the team will turn their attention towards the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300, a very prestige Late Model event hosted at the famed Martinsville (Va.) Speedway on October 21. Testing begins next week.

“We’re absolutely looking forward to the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300,” Wilson explained. “It’s a huge race for us and it’s been a while since we’ve been able to compete. I’m looking forward to testing because it will help us prepare for the race. We’re also looking for some extra marketing partners to help out with the trip, so if anyone’s interested, we’re here.”
