PRN’S ALBRIGHT TO SPEAK AT MASCS BANQUET

Mid American Stock Car Series
December 5, 2011

FORT ATKISON, Wis. (December 5, 2011) – Performance Racing Network play-by-play man Rob Albright will be the keynote speaker at the Mid-American Stock Car Series banquet on Saturday, Jan. 14 at Wintergreen Resort and Conference Center in Wisconsin Dells, Wis.

Mid-American and Albright will also share insight and host a question and answer session prior to the banquet. The pre-banquet conference will take place at 3:00 p.m. and will be open to the public free of charge.

In following several motorsports trade publications, Albright has kept tabs on Mid-American. He said he sees Mid-American as a great opportunity for the grassroots level racer.

“I see organizations like Mid-American as one of two things,” Albright said. “It can be something to aspire to for those who don’t want to run at the same race track every week and want to race in a highly competitive touring series. Or for others who want to move on in their career and strive for an even higher level, it’s certainly a great stepping stone.”

Just as most that have made the jump to NASCAR in any form or fashion, Albright’s career began on the short tracks. Albright grew up in a small town near Indianapolis where his father was an auto dealer that raced on weekend. He later followed in his father’s footsteps at the Indianapolis Speedrome.

“It was absolutely foundational to what I have been able to do in motorsports,” Albright said of his background. “My passion has been, and always will be short track racing.”

After a couple of years competing on-track, Albright decided to follow his priorities and focus more on his family. When he told Speedrome track owner John Stiles that he would no longer be racing, Stiles surprisingly asked, “Hey, you talk a lot and you know the drivers, so how about being my PA announcer if you aren’t going to race?” Albright said ‘yes’, and after just a year on the microphone, he got an unexpected call from ASA President Rex Robbins.

Over the next several years in ASA, Rob met and got to know eventual NASCAR stars Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin, Alan Kulwicki, and numerous others, including ASA, NASCAR Busch Series and NASCAR Truck Series champion Johnny Benson. “But I’ll save the rest of that story for the banquet”, Albright said.

“With the best of intentions, we all make annual New Year’s resolutions”, Albright continued. “But instead of talking about resolutions, most of which are quickly forgotten, I plan to talk about ‘New Year’s Revolutions and Realizations’. We are all being affected by the challenging economic times, either in our own lives or of someone close to us. I hope to bring a message of challenge and encouragement that no matter what is happening in the world around us, we can choose to make 2012 truly our best year ever. And there are some very practical ways to make it a reality.”

Albright concluded, “It begins with taking an honest look in the mirror, then determining what’s really most important in life. For me, my life’s priorities are my relationship with Christ first, my family second, my work third and my interests fourth. In all honesty, it hasn’t always been that way for me. As I’ve gotten older, though, I’ve discovered that as long as I keep those priorities in perspective, I have real peace and fulfillment, and can experience what I call ‘God sightings’ as a result. I want to encourage others to identify what is most important to them, to set their own priorities accordingly, and just see how enjoyable and rewarding life can be when they do.”

Mid-American hosts its 2011 awards banquet on Saturday, January 14 at the Wintergreen Resort and Conference Center in Wisconsin Dells, Wis. Rob Albright-Motorsports Bio

For the past fifteen seasons, Rob Albright’s favorite avocation has been providing the play-by-play action of NASCAR events on the Performance Racing Network, heard nationwide on over 400 radio stations and the Sirius satellite network.

Albright has been around racing his entire life, growing up in the Midwest where his dad raced sprint cars in the 1950’s. At age 10, Rob got his first “job” in motorsports, selling newspapers in the grandstands at the “Indy 500”.

After college, while building a career as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Rob raced in numerous World Karting Association events. After a couple of years behind the wheel, he traded his racing helmet for a microphone as public address announcer at the Indianapolis Speedrome.

In 1987, Rob became the “voice” of the American Speed Association (ASA), eventually co-anchoring the ASA national television broadcasts on TNN. It was in ASA that he met and worked with eventual NASCAR stars Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin, Ted Musgrave, Johnny Benson, and the late Alan Kulwicki, along with Dick Trickle, Bob Senneker, Mike Eddy, the Sauters, and others.

From 1996 through 2002, Albright partnered with Cup driver Johnny Benson to form Competitive Group, Inc., a motorsports management and marketing company. When JB moved to NASCAR’s Truck Series, Rob became VP of Strategic Alliances for Motorpsorts Authentics to oversee driver development and the Strategic Asset Marketing Group.

Today, Albright is a Principal in Veteran Logistics Company, providing ‘best in class’ energy and environmental solutions to the military, government and industrial markets. Since 2005, Rob has also served on the Advisory Board of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College’s Motorsports Management Technology program.

Rob and his wife Connie make their home in Concord, NC and are both active in leadership and in the Marriage Ministry at Grace Covenant Church in Huntersville, NC. Their faith in Jesus Christ is at the very core of who they are. The Albrights have been blessed with two adult daughters and eight wonderful grandchildren.
