MID-AM IS BACK TO THE SANDS

Matt Panure
Mid American Stock Car Series
May 22, 2012

Fort Atkinson, WI (May 22, 2012) - It’s been three years since Mid-American unleashed their forces on Golden Sands Speedway. The sights, sounds and smells of these mechanical steeds will once again energize the awesome Central Wisconsin race fans. “Mid-American has brought some fantastic racing entertainment here in years past,” Mid-American co-owner said. “ It’s great to be able to bring our racers here to help celebrate the Series 20th Anniversary and the day set aside for our fallen veterans.”

These race warriors will be ready to go after a six-week break from the season opener in Rockford. Four former Series point Champions including local favorite, Lyle Nowak, James Swan, Bill Preitzel and Mark Pluer are expected to try to fend off challengers from four states.

Sitting on top of the points, rookie, Ryan Farrell, Big Bend, WI will be pumped after his first MASCS feature win and near perfect showing at the 2012 season opener. He leads Wisconsin native Chris Storey, Illinois challengers Frank “The Kid” Slabenak, Joe Tovo and Iowa’s Ben Glascock in the chase for rookie honors going into the second race of a 12-race schedule.

Four lady challengers are also expected. Crystal Wood, Denmark, WI brings a MASCS feature win with her, while the Decker girls, Paige, Claire and Natalie from Eagle River, WI are each hungry for their first feature victory.

Brian Back, another local favorite hopes to make his 2012 debut. Brian is a fierce MASCS competitor and plans to run an abbreviated schedule this season. Another Golden Sands native, Marv Flick, from Stevens Point hopes to make good of home court advantage. Marv joined Mid-American with his Ford powered mount shaking the bugs out at the Rockford opener.

Veteran announcer and promoter, Steve Parsons has helped make this show possible through his efforts in the promotion of this race. Steve was excited to help not just bring Mid-American back, but to have a chance to remember his daughter, Kimmie, and to tell everyone “Please give your kids a hug and tell them that you love them...because you just never know.”

Come…honor our fallen veterans and thrill to the excitement of Mid-American racing this Memorial Day Monday at Golden Sands Speedway. Qualifying at 1:15, racing at 3:00.
