Halford's Helping Hand

Halford's Autocentre
Right now your local Halfords Autocentre is lowering the cost of its service pricing for cars with smaller, more fuel-efficient engines. Clearly the company is mindful of Ford's recent servicing deal for older cars.

The move reflects the growing popularity of more economical vehicles and will benefit the owners of cars with engines of 1300cc or less through the introduction of a new entry level price for all vehicle services. This is especially handy when your car is out of warranty.

For under £80, the independent garage chain can perform a service on any make or model of car, delivering - they say - dealership quality workmanship supported by a 12 month or 12,000 mile guarantee.

This couldn’t come at a better time. The cost of fuel, despite recent modest drops, is still high. This, coupled with the economic downturn, has pushed up demand for smaller cars with smaller engines, so much so that on the used car forecourts of Britain small frugal cars are in short supply, such is the demand.

It is also well known that cash-strapped motorists have been skimping or avoiding necessary car maintenance. We all know that this is false economy in the long run but when people are faced with tricky daily financial decisions, it is unsurprising. Halfords have also reduced the cost of servicing for larger vehicles too.

It goes without saying that Halford’s offer isn’t based on some philanthropic desire to nurture the UK’s motorists but rather a cold hard financially driven decision to help the company survive in these difficult times. Whatever, anything that drives down the cost of owning a car has got to be worth looking into.
