Baytown, Texas – For the second-consecutive race, two rounds of qualifying were rained out at the NHRA Mello Yello Series event. This weekend, it was Day 2 of qualifying for the O'Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Spring Nationals near Houston. TJ Zizzo and the PEAK Motor Oil team have no worries, however, as they are safely in the field in the 12th spot thanks to a 3.884-second ET run Friday evening.

"Well, on the positive side," Zizzo said, watching the rain come down outside the PEAK hospitality area as he entertained fans, "we saved some money by not running those two rounds, but we come to the track to race. We have a lot of folks from PEAK here and we want to put on a good show for them, but Mother Nature wins every time. Now we get ready for tomorrow."

Zizzo faces former three-time Top Fuel champion and fifth-place qualifier Larry Dixon in the first round of eliminations Sunday.

The top qualifier in the Top Fuel class Sunday is Doug Kalitta based on his time of 3.791 set Friday in Q2. He will face No. 16 qualifier Troy Buff in E1 Sunday. Notables who did not make the show are Brittany Force (18th) and, for the second week in a row, Clay Millican (17th).

TJ in the Media: Zizzo was featured on the Performance Racing Network’s Nitro Notes this week, talking about his visit to a children’s hospital when the team raced here last year. To hear the segment, click HERE.
