LANSING -- The 4-4-2, Oldsmobile's most responsive sports model will enhance a well established reputation for exceptional handling and road sense with several important new options for 1967.

Front disc brakes, a special Turbo Hydra-Matic 3-speed transmission, specific rear axle assemblies and special F-70 wide oval tires give the enthusiast a greater selection for tailoring the 4-4-2 to his individual taste.

Front disc brakes may be ordered with the 4-4-2 for use under repeatedly severe braking conditions. The option will give more efficient heat dissipation for sustained brake effectiveness and more consistent pedal effort.

Rear wheel brake cylinders for the 4-4-2 have also been revised to provide greater overall balance during sudden rear-to-front weight transfer with high speed decelerations.

Oldsmobile's 3-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission replaces the 2-speed Jetaway, when ordering the 4-4-2 with an automatic transmission. The Turbo Hydra-Matic for the 4-4-2 has a special valve body resulting in higher RPM shifts while the variable stator converter ratio has been revised for greater initial torque (1.9 high angle - 2.5 low angle.

An optional 4-4-2 axle, available with 3.42 and 3.91 differential ratios, has been designated the 'A plus' axle. It has higher capacity differential side bearings and larger diameter axle shafts for increased torque loads. Each shaft has 31 splines instead of the conventional 27.

In addition, 4-4-2 buyers may order Oldsmobile's completely new anti-spin differential for vastly improved bias ratio characteristics and increased differential effectiveness. It is manufactured with fewer parts and simplified construction. New friction discs for the differential have an elongated spiral pattern for high friction capability, better lubrication retention and longer life.

An impressive tire option is the new Firestone F-70 wide oval providing considerably greater road adhesion from stronger sidewalls and extra-wife "foot-print". It is rated at 6.50 / 8.95-14 and is available with either red or white striped sidewalls

New appearance items for the '67 4-4-2 consist of a rakish looking louvered hood along with special front fender striping on both sides of the car.

The 4-4-2 option is available in 1967 with Cutlass Supreme Coupe and convertible models.
