Michelle Theriault & Team GLOCK Returns To ARCA Looking For Impressive Gateway Debut

MADISON, Illinois (Wednesday, August 29, 2007) - - Michelle Theriault and her Spraker Racing Enterprises team will take advantage of the vacation from the NASCAR Busch East Series schedule and head to Gateway International Raceway (GIR) to compete in Friday night’s Gateway ARCA 150.

Theriault heads to GIR looking to make her fourth career ARCA start Friday night and reel in a career best finish in her second night race of the season. Guided by car owner and spotter Jeff Spraker, the driver of the No. 37 GLOCK Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS has soared into the spotlight in the development series for NASCAR, but unfortunately the finishes haven’t been what the team is looking for.

In the team’s debut at USA International Speedway, Theriault qualified eighth but finished 36th after being involved in early race altercation. At Kentucky Speedway, Theriault qualified an impressive 16th before finishing 22nd.

Earlier this month, Theriault tackled Nashville Superspeedway at her second speedway debut. After racking in very impressive practice times, Theriault backed it with a speedway career best qualifying effort of 14th. During the race, the only full time female NASCAR driver hovered competitively in the top-15 before an engine failure on lap 84 exited the team from competition.

Team GLOCK Racing is ready to storm to the front on Friday night and award the team with their best finish of the limited season. “I’m excited about going back to ARCA racing,” said Theriault, the 21-year old rookie. “I’ve really enjoyed my time in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. We’ve run very well in the series this year despite not being able to always bring home the best finish. But, this is a new race and a new game and I’m looking forward to Gateway International Raceway.”

Despite not having any experience at the Gateway, Theriault knows she can rely on the experience of her Spraker Racing Enterprises team to guide her in the right direction. “Jeff is well respected in the ARCA RE/MAX Series so having him on my side is an advantage to me. His expertise will come in handy at Gateway this weekend.”

She added, “We didn’t have the opportunity to test because we were testing our NASCAR Busch East Series car in preparation for our primary deal. It’s unfortunate, because I know the track time would be beneficial heading into practice on Friday. But, I’m not worried. We have a good team, good equipment and a great sponsor. We’ve been in this position before and been able to shine through it – we will look to do the same this week.”

Following Gateway, Theriault will head to Chicagoland Speedway eight days later.

“We plan on running at least two more ARCA races at Chicagoland and Talladega this season following Gateway. All three of those races are big. They have a nice following and offer a lot of exposure. I plan to keep our No. 37 GLOCK Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS in the spotlight and try to bring home top-ten finishes beginning with Friday’s race.”

The Gateway ARCA 150 (120 laps/150 miles) is the 18th of 23 races on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. Practice begins Friday, August 31 with a two hour practice session planned from 10:30am-12:30pm. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is set for later in the day at 4:30pm Local Time. The event will take the green flag shortly after 8:00pm Local Time. The race will be televised live on SPEED at 9:00pm EST with additional race coverage online at arcaracing.com.
