“Stott Classic Racing Development Driver Billy Tanner To Pilot Familiar No. 07”

SPRINGFIELD, Illinois (Thursday, August 16, 2007) - - Stott Classic Racing (SCR) has spent the last few months developing a strong ARCA RE/MAX Series (ARS) team. And with a recent string of solid performances in the books, the team could not imagine to skip Sunday’s Allen Crowe 100, the first of two showings on the dirt this season.

The 16th race on the 2007 schedule was not originally on the team’s 12-race plan, but car owner Corrie Stott has elected to add the legendary race to its already impressive schedule hoping to reward his Denver , North Carolina team with their first top-10 run on Sunday afternoon.

“We only decided to go to Springfield earlier this week,” said car owner Corrie Stott. “I’m extremely proud of the recent success of our team. We’re starting to find our niche here in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. We knew we had the capabilities of running competitively every week and we hope to show that again this weekend.”

Stott’s confidence is referring to the team’s superb run at Nashville Superspeedway last weekend. With rookie driver Billy Tanner aboard, the team stormed from their mid-pack starting position to climb into the 11th position only to have radio problems interfere with their career-day forcing a 21st place finish. Stott knows that bad luck is part of racing, but he’s hoping that the team has paid their dues and Springfield will offer a race for the team not to forget.

“ Nashville was great, even with the finish. Billy did a great job, circumstances beyond our control kept us from netting our first top-10 finish, but with the passes and strength that he showed under scorching temperatures, we feel like he can almost conquer anything.”

Speaking of Billy Tanner, Stott also announced that he’ll be back behind the wheel of the No. 07 CheapCaribbean.com Chevrolet this weekend as he prepares to make his ninth career ARS start on Sunday.

“We’re glad that we were able to get everything worked out so Billy could drive this weekend,” added Stott. “Every time he climbs behind the wheel of a racecar, he continues to impress me. He is learning a lot, an awful lot. Billy’s background is surrounded by dirt up in Pennsylvania . He doesn’t have any experience on the dirt in a stock car, but he should be able to adapt quickly. Everyone may not think we’ll be a threat this weekend, but we know that we’ll be mixing ourselves strongly in the top-10 bunch.”

25-year old Billy Tanner sounded, “Sometimes in life when you do things last minute, they tend to work out better than when you planned them months ahead. I’m hoping to live by that statement this weekend. Corrie has done an absolutely phenomenal job with the race program this year. If we didn’t think we could head to the dirt and be competitive, we would not be going.”

When asked about making his dirt debut at Illinois State Fairgrounds, Tanner replied, “Man, I tell you, it’s going to be a thrilling weekend. I’ve never raced on the dirt in a 3400 pound stock car, but I am sure it’s going to be a lot of fun. We have to remember that we have a job at hand though too. We want to deliver the finish and pick off on the momentum we acquired last week. With a little luck, we can do it!”

Following the ARCA race at Illinois State Fairgrounds, the team will head to Chicagoland Speedway on Tuesday August 21 to compete in the open test in preparation for next month’s ARCA 200.

Stott Classic Racing will also participate in the 17th event on the schedule, the Governors Cup 200 from The Milwaukee Mile a week from Sunday.

The Allen Crowe 100 (100 laps/100 miles) is the 16 of 23 races on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The 25th ARCA race held at Illinois State Fairgrounds is a one day show. Practice begins Sunday, August 19 with an hour practice (9:00am-10:00am) session planned. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is set for later in the morning at 11:00am Local Time. The event will take the green flag shortly after 1:00pm Local Time. The race will not be televised but additional race coverage can be found online at arcaracing.com
