Edmonton, Alberta – With a chorus of cheers in the background, Alex Tagliani and his Team Barracuda – BHA crew earned a top five finish in front of the Canadian driver’s “home” crowd at the Edmonton Indy on Sunday afternoon.

After running in the top three all weekend in practice, Tagliani qualified the car in P4 and took the lead on the first lap of the race. He dominated the first two stints, leading 49 laps and maintaining a comfortable distance between the No. 98 car and the rest of the field.

The team’s two-pit-stop strategy (on laps 26 and 53) proved successful and Tagliani was able to achieve his season-best finish in P5.

“I’m so proud of Team Barracuda – BHA. It was our third Firestone Fast Six in a row and I believe we don’t have to change anything. Bryan [Herta] and Steve [Newey] are running a really great team, and the guys are doing fantastic. We had a pretty clean race and at the end, I just didn’t have the pace on used reds that the other guys had. Since we switched to Honda, we’re showing speed and it’s coming bit by bit. We’re just knocking at the door and one day it’s going to come.”

When asked about racing in Canada, Tagliani added, “I was a little bit concerned at the beginning because the fans were screaming so much on the opening lap. I thought, ‘It’s a long race. They’re going to be running out of lungs by the end.’ The fans in Canada are great and I’m glad that we’re able to put on a good show for them.”

In two weeks, the IZOD IndyCar Series is back in the Midwest for the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio. The twelfth race of the season will take place on Sunday, August 5. An estimated green flag for the 85-lap competition is scheduled to drop at approximately 1 p.m. EDT. Fans can watch the live broadcast on ABC, or listen live on IMS Radio Network and Sirius (XM 94 and Sirius 212).
