Toronto, Ontario – Race two of the Honda Indy Toronto on Sunday afternoon produced a top ten finish for Barracuda Racing, matching Alex Tagliani’s best result of the season.

The Canadian driver started the 85-lap competition in ninth place in front of his “home” crowd. For the first time in IZOD IndyCar Series history, and in response to fan requests, the race commenced with a standing start.

The first half of the Honda Indy Toronto went caution free, with Tagliani running comfortably inside the top ten for most of the race. Barracuda Racing opted for a two-stop strategy, calling Tagliani into the pits on laps 20 and 53.

Late in the race, Tagliani slipped back to 13th place, but two more late-race incidents allowed him to advance three spots and finish the race in tenth.

“I gave it everything I had out there for the Barracuda Racing boys,” said Tagliani.

Team owner Bryan Herta stated, “It was a solid day here in Toronto for race two. Ironically, I think our pace was a little better yesterday, but a clean run from Tag helped us secure a decent finish and some very useful points.”

After ten out of eleven race weekends on track, the IZOD IndyCar Series will have two off-weekends before heading to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio will take place on Sunday, August 4. The race will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network from 2-6 p.m. ET.
