Mercedes Teaching Apexes and Exits to Chinese

Mercedes-Benz in China
Mercedes has tapped into the burgeoning Chinese automotive market by offering a Mercedes race-car school in China. The AMG Driving Academy in China takes place from Nov. 19 to Nov. 24 at the Shanghai International Circuit, a 3.5-mile F1 track. They’ll have some great vehicles at their disposal, including the SLS AMG, the SL 63 AMG, the C 63 AMG with Performance Package Plus, and the SLK 55 AMG.

First-ever Mercedes Race Car School in China

Mercedes is hoping to reach a rapidly growing Chinese market of approximately 20 million drivers. The race car school kicks off with basic training over a one-and-a-half day period and than ratches things up a notch with two-and-a-half days of advanced training focusing on cornering, racing line and braking points.

No pricing was announced in the Mercedes tweet but just the ability to learn how to throw an SLS AMG into the curves is worth any price of admission. The gullwing beauty features a 6.2-liter 32-valve V-8 that spits out 563 horsepower at 6800 rpm and 479 lb-ft of torque at 4750 rpm. It absolutely grips the road.

AMG Driving Academy offers top-notch instructors including Chief Instructor Reinhold Renger, Bernd Schneider, five-time champion of DTM, the popular touring car series in Germany, Thomas Hunter, 2009 champion of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, and Scotland’s Susie Stoddart, one of the World's top female racing drivers, currently racing in the high profile DTM.
