A familiar sight at Mosport Park, Can. on Sept. 30. Moss, (#7) and Gendebien (#6), both in U.D.T.-Laystall Lotus 19's, swapped the lead over 20 times during the 60-odd laps when BOTH were in the race. Gendebien pitted with gearbox trouble. Moss, after a fuel stop, eventually took third O.A.

While the duel between Moss and Gendebien caused some excitement, the race for third spot between Peter Ryan's Lotus 19, and Pedro Rodriguez' 3-liter "Dino" Ferrari, shown here passing Herb Swan's RS61 in the pit straight, was also noteworthy. Ryan finally passed, held third . . . for a while.

Meanwhile, Ricardo Rodriguez, in a 2.5 liter "Dino" dropped out at about mid-point, having lost oil pressure. Fuel stops—and lightening tanks, made for mighty interesting betting.

Moss, having made a SECOND, then a THIRD pit stop, let flying George Constantine and his 3-liter Ferrari (#20) move into third. Then Moss came on with a demonstration of why he's known as world's fastest chauffeur. To pass Constantine and regain a position, Moss lowered the Mosport lap record from 1:39.0 to 1:34.4.

One of Stirling's pit stops. Car is stuck in gear here. In spite of his inspired overtaking of Constantine on return to the course, Ryan and Constantine has set up an unassailable lead.

Ryan takes the checker, 'midst lengthening shadows. Note the "lift" in nose of Lotus 19, running nearly gasless.

Ryan is mobbed before starting on his victory lap—a particularly happy one, because a Canadian from a Canadian team ran so successfully against imposing entries of top European, American drivers.

Pedro Rodriguez pulls in at the end . . . 40 seconds behind Ryan, who lost a 1bminute lead taking on a 3-gallon fuel boosts
