Man Married Less Than a Year Has Skull Fractured in Crash Against a Tree.

Struck by a Speeding Car Which Rushed on Without Stopping.

One person died and nineteen others were injured in automobile accidents, yesterday, in and near New York City.

Edward Diehlman of Richmond Hill, who had been married less than a year, was returning from a basketball game at Bayshore, L. I., with three other young men in a car driven by Walter Kusnuz of Center Moriches. At Oakdale, L. I., the car skidded into a tree, hurling the four occupants to the road. Diehlman's skull was fractured, and he died in the hospital. The others were slightly injured.

Police Lieutenant Daniel O'Grady of the Thirty-ninth precinct was seriously injured late Saturday night while crossing River Road, Edgewater, near the Fort Lee Ferry station, when he was struck by an automobile which sped away without stopping. He received a fractured leg and internal injuries. He was carried to the Englewood Hospital.

Thomas Ward of 69 East Second street, was struck by an automobile at Ninth street and Third avenue and suffered a fractured wrist. In trying to avoid colliding with another automobile at 165th street and Tinton avenue, the Bronx, Joseph A. Gross of 2,145 Southern boulevard, drove the taxicab he was operating into the curb. It turned over and Gross's left arm was broken.
