LONG POND, Pennsylvania (July 30, 2008) – - As the ARCA RE/MAX Series heads to Pocono Raceway this weekend, many people are still feeling the effects of the absence of ARCA chaplain Bill Krick who was missing in action last weekend at Berlin Raceway after successfully recovering from open-heart surgery.

With Krick expected to be on the sidelines for a majority of the second-half of the ARCA season and with limited income coming in, Sheltra Motorsports Public Relations Representative Chris Knight is stepping in and announcing a personal challenge to the other teams competing in Saturday’s Pennsylvania 200 at Pocono Raceway.

For every mile that ARCA RE/MAX Series driver Patrick Sheltra completes Saturday afternoon Knight will donate $1.00 out of his personal pocket to Bill and Diana Krick. Should the Pennsylvania 200 extend into overtime, Knight will donate $2.00 for every mile completed until Sheltra takes the checkered flag.

If Sheltra is able to capture his first career ARCA RE/MAX Series victory Saturday, Knight, a longtime Motorsports Public Relations Representative will throw in an additional $200.00 bonus.

“Bill has done some many wonderful things for so many people including me,” said Knight, who has been covering and working in the ARCA RE/MAX Series since 2000. “It’s very unfortunate what the entire Krick family has had to endure within the last week but I want to be able to do my portion to give my thanks. While Bill’s presence at the track is priceless, I know that even when he’s not there, he still is, in spirits.”

Knight continued, “I am challenging any members of the ARCA community whether team or sanction to match my challenge with the hopes to raise a minimum of a thousand dollars this weekend. I know that every penny counts for the Krick family and this is the best way I know how to give back quickly.”

Anyone interested in joining the challenge are urged to contact Sheltra Motorsports at Knight849@aol.com or 239.834.9797.

Patrick Sheltra, Sheltra Motorsports, Pocono Raceway Notes of Interest:

  • Sheltra Motorsports will run a mixture of Dodge Chargers and Chevrolet Monte Carlos Chevrolet during the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series season. For Pocono, Sheltra Motorsports will run a Dodge Charger that will make its second career ARCA start this weekend. Ironically, the team competed with this same automobile in the most recent ARCA event at Pocono Raceway in June. The piece was acquired from Penske Racing during the off-season. The car was previously driven by 2008 Daytona 500 champion Ryan Newman. RC Consultants will provide the horsepower for the sophomore ARCA team.

  • Sheltra currently maintains a points position in the top-10 (10th) heading into Pocono Raceway this weekend. Sheltra moved into the top-10 in the series second race of the season at Salem Speedway and has remained locked in the top-10 since. The Indiantown, Florida native is just 370 markers from entering the top-five and 610 credits from the number one position held by SunTrust Rookie-of-the-Year candidate Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. Last year, the then 21-year old superstar finished seventh in the championship standings competing in 22 of the scheduled 23 events.

  • Sheltra will make 320 left hand turns on Saturday afternoon, four hundred and eighty (480) less turns than the series last outing, the Berlin ARCA RE/MAX 200 at the .4-mile track of Berlin Raceway last Saturday night.

  • In addition to running a full 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule, Sheltra will also run a limited schedule in NASCAR and compete in selected dirt late model events (UMP and WoO Series) throughout the United States.
