October 24th 2013 - NEW CASTLE, Ind. – Ed Carpenter will have a busy weekend at the New Castle Karting Track this weekend (Oct. 26-27) when the IndyCar Series team owner/driver competes in two race events.

Carpenter, the owner/driver of the No. 20 Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka Chevrolet IndyCar, will race in the special Dan Wheldon Pro-Am Karting Challenge Saturday. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Alzheimer's Association, a cause Wheldon worked to raise awareness for after his mother was diagnosed in 2008.

Carpenter will team with Taylor Kiel, Adam Rovazzini and Blair Julian in the two-hour enduro against some 12 other squads which include recent IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon, Simon Pagenaud, James Hinchcliffe, Alex Tagliani, Josef Newgarden, Tristan Vautier, Bryan Herta, Sage Karam and Marino Franchitti, younger brother of Dario.

On Sunday, Carpenter will partner with his longtime karting teammate Nathan O'Rourke for the annual Robo Pong 200. Carpenter and O'Rourke are former champions of the popular event.

Last Saturday night, Carpenter finished second in the IndyCar Series finale at Auto Club Speedway in the MAVTV 500. Last year, Ed captured the MAVTV 500 title.

Now, the 32-year-old Butler University grad moves to the smaller machines over the one-mile karting track developed by former IndyCar racer Mark Dismore. O’Rourke was Carpenter’s race engineer at Sarah Fisher Racing when Ed took his first IndyCar Series checkered flag in 2011 at Kentucky Speedway.

When Carpenter started his own racing team in 2012, O’Rourke remained with the Fisher Hardman Racing team and worked with Josef Newgarden this season.

New Castle Motorsports Park is located 30 miles east of Indianapolis on I-70 at exit 123.
