Menominee Reservation Resident Charged with Theft of Automobile

United States Attorney James L. Santelle announced today that Leoman Teller (age 27), a resident of the Menominee Indian Reservation (MIR), was indicted December 13, 2011, for theft of an automobile. If convicted Teller faces a maximum of five years in prison.

The indictment alleges that on February 14, 2011, Teller stole a green 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix automobile on the MIR.

The case was investigated by the Menominee Tribal Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tammy Jo Hock from the United States Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Wisconsin, Green Bay Division.

An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
