New York Man Sentenced on Larceny Charge

U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of South Dakota
October 5, 2012

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Modena, New York man charged with larceny was sentenced on October 1, 2012, by U.S. District Judge Charles B. Kornmann. Bobby R. Olson, age 24, was sentenced to 30 months custody and three years of supervised release.

Olson was indicted for larceny by a federal grand jury on February 22, 2012. He pled guilty to the indictment on July 9, 2012. The conviction stems from an incident in February 2012 when the defendant stole a Jeep Cherokee and personal items from numerous other vehicles that were parked in the Grand River Casino parking lot.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Bureau of Indian Affairs-Standing Rock Agency. Assistant U.S. Attorney Troy Morley prosecuted the case.

Olson was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
