NEWPORT, June 19.—More cottagers have called upon the Mayor to complain of the speed with which William K. Vanderbilt, Jr., passes through the city in his motor vehicle. At Portsmouth, between here and Tiverton, the Town Council will hold a special meeting on Monday to act on a petition praying that the speed of motor vehicles be regulated for the safety of the people. This afternoon a steam vehicle frightened a horse attached to a buggy, and the animal jumped clean over the fence and on to the lawn of the Scott villa, in Bellevue Avenue. Fortunately no one was hurt, but the trap and horse were injured.
