At Dinner for Copeland and Himself He Says He Goes to Albany Unfettered.

Mr. and Mrs. Martin Vogel gave a dinner at the Ritz-Carlton last night for Governor-elect and Mrs. Alfred E. Smith and Senator-elect and Mrs. Royal S. Copeland. Mr. Smith in a speech announced that he had resigned the presidency of the United States Trucking Corporation yesterday, and that he would go to Albany without any business connections whatsoever. He would be absolutely free to serve the best interests of the people, he continued.
