NEW SPARK PLUG MARKED ADVANCE

Washington Times-Herald
December 24, 1922

Champion Company Plans Aggressive Sales Campaign for Next Year.

The entire sales force of the Champion Spark Plug Company was in convention at Toledo last week, receiving the details of the plans of R. A. Stranahan, president, for aggressively pushing the Champion business next year.

The Champion company is the largest of its kind in the world, making about 60 per cent of all the spark plugs produced—35,000,000 in 1922—but plans for 1923 call for greatly increased production.

The increased demand has been brought about by a wonderful new core developed by scientists working in the Champion ceramic laboratories, which is declared to be a marked advance over any core heretofore made for spark plugs.

The Champion company has been making this new plugs, which are identified by a double-rib on the core, for nearly a year and they have proved satisfactory in all types of motor car engines.

As a part of the merchandising plan revealed to the sales force, it was announced that an aggressive advertising campaign will be conducted during 1923 in behalf of Champion plugs by MacManus, Inc., of Detroit.
