Obama Lauds Higher US Car Sales

U.S. President Barack Obama says U.S. car sales are higher than they have been in four years.

Mr. Obama said in his weekly address Saturday that the high sales were reached because his administration “refused to let Detroit go bankrupt.”

He said his administration “bet” on American workers and their ingenuity, and that bet is paying off.

President Obama said when he decided to rescue the auto industry from collapse, more than a million jobs across the country were in jeopardy.

Now, the U.S. leader says, Detroit is making better cars and trucks with higher fuel standards that are in his words “good for your wallet, good for our economy and good for the environment.”
