SBR SET FOR A GOOD WEEKEND

Stone Brothers Racing
August 19, 2011

Stone Brothers Racing (SBR) finished today’s four practice sessions at Queensland Raceway with some promising results ahead of this weekend’s Ipswich 300.

Tim Slade in the #47 Lucky 7 Racing Falcon was the team’s fastest campaigner today, posting the second quickest time just behind Craig Lowndes.

“I came here this weekend off the back of a very successful test day so I was expecting we’d be in the picture,” Slade said.

“I was scratching my head earlier in the day because the car felt really different to the test but eventually after a few small tweaks everything started to feel familiar again,” he added.

“Once we bolted on the new set of tyres in that last session the was probably the best handling car I’ve ever driven,” Slade said - which hopefully points to bigger and better things in qualifying tomorrow.

Shane van Gisbergen in the #9 SP Tools Racing Falcon was the second fastest of SBR’s trio, posting a fastest lap that had him sitting in fifth place at the end of the day.

“Overall the car feels pretty good – there’s the usual post-practice changes to make to squeeze a bit more speed out of it but I’m going home tonight knowing we are on top of it and that I’ll have a strong car when we qualify tomorrow,” van Gisbergen said.

Alex Davison in the #4 IRWIN Racing Falcon was caught out by a late shower in the final session, which doused any chances he had of posting a quicker time on fresh rubber.

“I thought the IRWIN Ford was okay in our first session, we were eighth and I thought that this was a reasonable start to the event,” Davison said.

“The car was quick, but we didn’t end up were we would have liked and would have been sitting a lot high had it not been for the rain - 19th is not nearly as bad as it looks – we’ll bounce back tomorrow when the track is in a better condition,” he added.

In addition to their on track campaign, Stone Brothers Racing is helping raise awareness for the Daniel Morcombe Foundation this weekend.

The Daniel Morcombe Foundation implements ‘Harm Prevention’ initiatives in schools across Australia, and is committed to teaching these Personal Safety skills to the young and vulnerable in our community.
