FRUSTRATING END TO TASMANIA CONTEST FOR SBR

Stone Brothers Racing
November 14, 2010

It has been a frustrating end to the Falken Tasmania Challenge event for SBR with all three Falcons finishing outside the top ten for the second day in a row. After a full season on the shelf the wet weather tyres were out for the race start thanks to a full day of solid rain. The conditions would change at the races half way point with the track drying out enough for the soft ‘sprint’ tyres to make an appearance for the final stint.

Drive through penalties put an end to any attempt of a good result for both van Gisbergen and Slade after being involved in separate racing incidents at the hair pin. Alex Davison also made a trip down pit lane after a mistake at Turn 8 left him with no option but to suffer the 36 second diversion.

A risky tyre strategy saw van Gisbergen recover well to finish 11th while Slade and Davison went a lap down to the leaders before the chequered flag.

Ross Stone – SBR Team Principal

“Today again our qualifying performance was substandard, we really made it hard for ourselves in both races.

“Our race pace was good but we really need to do our homework in order to come out strong at Sandown, we are capable of so much better.”

SBR will now travel straight to Melbourne to begin preparations for the Norton 360 Sandown Challenge November 19 -21.
