“Silas Looks For Top-20 As Big Birthday Present”

BROOKLYN, Michigan (June 13, 2007) - - NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) rookie Bryan Silas seems to be adapting well to his newest form of racing a lot quicker than anyone on his Fast Track Racing team anticipated. No one is complaining.

The team hopes the improvement continues as the NCTS takes center stage Saturday at Michigan International Speedway for the Michigan 200.

It will be a busy week for Silas, who turns 20 on Wednesday. Before turning all his concentration to the trucks, Silas will compete in Friday’s ARCA 200, the 11th event on their 2007 schedule.

Silas enters both events this weekend on a roll. Coming off a career best fourth place qualifying effort at Pocono Raceway, Silas led laps in his first tango with the 2.5-triangular track and appeared to be heading towards his first top-five finish before a flat tire with a few laps remaining relegated the Stuart, Florida native to an 18th place finish.

With Pocono gone for now, Silas turns towards Michigan International Speedway where he hopes to make two debuts in the state they call “The Motor City.”

“I’m really excited to have the opportunity to race at MIS this weekend,” said Silas. “I have a feeling that both the car and the truck will be strong and we should continue to turn heads. We’ve done it for the past couple weeks in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, we hope to continue our performance on both Friday and Saturday.”

Silas, who sits ninth in the ARS championship standings, last competed in the NCTS at Lowes Motor Speedway. Rebounding from an engine failure in practice, this likable rookie overcame the odds and put his No. 71 Fast Track High Performance Driving School Chevrolet Silverado into the starting lineup on his first lap. In the race, Silas acted more like a ten-year veteran by saving the best for last. Unfortunately as Silas began making his charge towards the top-20, his backup engine expired calling an end to an impressive weekend.

“Despite the heartache we faced at Lowes Motor Speedway, it was still an awesome opportunity. We rebounded from some headaches and were running very solid in the race. You can’t control engine failure. All we can do is keep our head high and head to the next race.”

With Michigan ’s grooves, Silas anticipates an exciting race but is keeping his goal realistic. “We would like to finish the event. I know we can do that with no problem. I really would like to walk away from Michigan with a top-20 finish. I know with guidance from my car owner Andy Hillenburg, we can learn this place pretty fast in a truck and pick up where we left off at Lowes Motor Speedway.”

Nortrax, Fast Track High Performance Driving School and Palm Beach Grading (PBG) will all sponsor Silas’ third attempt in the NCTS.

The Michigan 200 is the 10th of 25 events on the 2007 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule. First round of practice begins on Friday, June 15 with a hour and twenty-five minute (10:00-11:25am) session planned. A ½ hour rookie practice is set to commence at 1:10pm and conclude 1:50pm. Final practice will take place for an hour and ten minutes (1:50-3:00pm) to wrap up Friday’s activities. Qualifying is set for Saturday, June 16 beginning at 11:05am. The Michigan 200 will take the green flag shortly after 3:00pm Local Time live on SPEED. Additional coverage can be found on Truckseries.com and Sirius Satellite Radio on channel 128.
