ARCA RE/MAX Series Race No. 6, Winchester ARCA 200
Winchester Speedway, Winchester , Indiana

Race Information: Event: Winchester ARCA 200, Sunday, May 6 at 1:00 p.m. Local Time Track: Winchester Speedway Qualifying: Saturday, May 5 at 4:15 p.m. Local Time; Track Length: .5-mile high-banked paved oval.

Kansas Recap: In his second start at Kansas Speedway, Phillip McGilton qualified a career-best fourth in his Brewco Motorsports prepared Ford Fusion. During the race, McGilton ran in the top-five for a majority of the 100-lap event but the rookie driver ran out of fuel approaching his first pit stop. The mistake cost the team two laps forcing a disappointing 18th place finish.

The Return of Short Tracks: For the fourth time in his career, McGilton will compete in a short track event in the ARCA RE/MAX Series (ARS). McGilton’s best finish came at Salem Speedway late last month where the Illinois native finished a career-best seventh.

Busy Week Again: Before heading to Winchester Speedway this weekend, McGilton and the Brewco Motorsports team will head to Ohio to test at Toledo Speedway in preparation for this month’s Hantz Group 200 by Federated Auto Care set for May 20. McGilton will make his inaugural debut at the half-mile paved oval in the first of two ARS events held there this year.

Welcome Aboard: The Brewco Motorsports team announced last week that Montgomery Equipment has jumped onboard the No. 47 Ford Fusion for the remainder of the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series season. Montgomery Equipment specializes in underground mining equipment repair and rebuilds. They are located in West Virginia and do business all over the United States . Montgomery Equipment also sells new underground mining supplies and deals in used mining equipment.

Points Chase: McGilton slipped one position to fourth in the ARS point standings following the team’s top-20 run last Friday at Kansas Speedway. He sits just ten credits behind third place runner Dexter Bean, thirty points behind second-place competitor Frank Kimmel and 125 markers behind leader Justin Allgaier.

Continuing To Lead The Way: In addition to running for the ARCA RE/MAX Series championship, McGilton is also running for Rookie-of-the-Year honors, where he leads the standings despite his uncharacteristic run at Kansas Speedway. McGilton leads second-place runner Michael McDowell by six points heading to Winchester Speedway. He holds a 20-point margin over third place runner Bryan Silas, Patrick Sheltra is 32 points behind with Josh Krug rounding out the top-five 42 credits behind McGilton.

Brewco Motorsports, Winchester Speedway Pre-Race Quotes:
Phillip McGilton, driver of the No. 47 Montgomery Equipment Ford:

On Kansas : “We had a great car last week. The Brewco Motorsports team did an awesome job preparing a fast racecar. After running in the top-five we had some bad luck during the race and we weren’t able to bounce back. All we can do is learn from Kansas and move forward to this weekend.”

On Winchester Test: “ Winchester is going to be a fun place to race. It’s very fast and bumpy. A lot like Salem , but its characteristics are very different. I have a feeling we’re going to have a good run and I’m looking forward to getting back in the car.”

On The New Sponsor: “This is a really exciting opportunity for myself, Montgomery Equipment, and Brewco Motorsports. With the help of Montgomery Equipment, we will be able to do more testing to make a serious run for the championship. Now we feel like we don’t have to hold anything back.”

On All The Testing: “Its going to pay off. If we have the opportunity to test at a track, we are going to do it. It’s a rookie year for me and we’re going to a lot of places I’ve never been before, it’s going to help me in the long run. We’re running for two championships, if I can gather some additional seat time before we head there for race week, it will pay off by the end of the year, guaranteed.”
